Protecting your privacy is extremely important to us. The following information will help you understand the purposes for which we collect, store and use your information. We will keep your information confidential.

1. What is this notice about?

1.1 When you create a profile on the iTrustYou mobile application (the App) or otherwise interact with us (i.e. if you sign up to be notified of product updates) we obtain information about you. We want you to understand who you are sharing your information with, what kind of information we are collecting and how we use it.

1.2 This privacy policy forms part of our contract with you. You should read it along with our Terms of Service.

1.3 From time to time we may have to amend this policy to accommodate changes in our services, or if legal requirements change.

2. What information we collect and why

2.1 We will have your personal information if you:

  • Contact us;
  • If you sign up for our newsletter or to be notified of product updates;
  • If you create a profile on the App; and
  • If someone sends you a TrustToken (we also refer to it as a Token) from the App.

2.2 We won’t have your personal information if you just browse our website.

2.3 When you create a profile on the App we collect the following information directly from you:

  • Your email address;
  • The data on your driver’s licence (name, ID number, date of birth, gender, citizenship, ID photo); and
  • Your identification video.

2.4 When you visit or use the App we collect standard information about your internet connection and use. We use this information to help us improve our website and services. The type of information we collect includes the URL you came from, IP address, domain type, browser type, the country and telephone code where your device is located, the web pages viewed during your visit, the advertisements you clicked on, and any search terms you entered on our website.

2.5 We use cookies, web beacons and other technologies to optimise your experience. We use it to collect and store information about your visit to, or use of, our online services. Cookies are small data files stored on your hard drive or in device memory that help us improve our online services and your experience, and to see which areas and features of our online services are popular. Web beacons are electronic images that may be used in our online services or emails and help deliver cookies, count visits and understand usage and campaign effectiveness. We may later associate the usage and other information we collect online with personal information about you, as permitted or required by law.

3. What do we do with it?

3.1 We keep your personal information confidential. We share it with our service providers only if they have agreed to protect it. Some of our service providers are situated overseas and we may share your personal information with them.

3.2 We use the information we collect from you for various reasons, including to:

  • Deliver our services;
  • Communicate with you about our services;
  • Send you our newsletter or notifications of product updates if you asked us to;
  • Provide support;
  • Comply with and enforce applicable laws and regulations, relevant industry standards, contractual obligations and our policies; and
  • Administer, evaluate and improve our business.

3.3 If you send someone a Token from the App, we share the following information with them:

  • Your photo;
  • Your name;
  • Previous ratings and comments about you.

3.4 We do not sell or otherwise share your information with third parties aside from the sharing described here. In particular, we do not share information with third parties for direct marketing purposes.

4. Your rights and preferences

4.1 You have the right to:

  • Ask what personal information we have about you;
  • Ask what information was sent to our suppliers, service providers or any other third party;
  • Ask us to update, correct or delete any out-of-date or incorrect information we hold about you;
  • Unsubscribe from any direct marketing communications we may send you; and
  • Object to the processing of your personal information.

4.3 You can request access to the information we hold about you or correct your information by contacting or by doing it yourself on the App.

4.4 We may ask you to prove your identity before processing your request.

5. How we secure information

5.1 We have implemented reasonable security safeguards to protect the personal information that you provide. For example, we encrypt the data which is retrieved from your driver’s license and the data remains encrypted at all times.

But no system is perfect and no service is 100% secure. So, while we will do everything reasonably necessary to secure the information we cannot rule out unauthorised access, hacking, loss of information or data breach.

5.2 This is what will happen if we have a security breach:

  • We will analyse where the security breach was;
  • Make sure that the breach cannot happen again; and
  • Let you know that our security was breached and suggest ways to make sure that you don’t suffer any damage because of the security breach.

5.3 To protect your information, you must keep your login details confidential and not disclose it to any other person.
